you can make the lip again after you cut the guard by leaving 10mm excess and then grap some plyers and start bending along a radius line, then finish it off with a hammer

that's the proper way to do it , the lip adds strength to the panel and helps it hold it's shape .

why not do it the proper way and be off with the whole front..

Sorry I had to do it, I love Clubbies to

the rears will scrub if too low

you only have to cut from the seam forward

this is not a criticism in anyway , or a comment to tell you what to do, but just be aware that if you chop any part of the body of your 1275LS it will decrease its value a bit.

but it is your car to do what you want with it :)

This is why I'm running on 12x5's not 13's.... as I don't have to modify anything to comply with regulations as far as I know.

No worries czerial,

I have decided to go down the 12 inch wheels route. I just don't like the idea of chopping up my car at all and, if down the track I wanted to go back to 12 inch wheels it will probably look a bit strange.

Now I need to decide what type of wheel arches to go with. Any recommendations?

Cheers,
Rob.

Yeah good point ppls thats y i wasnt too sure if i wanted to go for the chop or not as my dad and i have both a LS1275 and a Morris Mini K 1100 so thinking of keeping em standard as possible, though 13's do look tuff!!! might just get a banger and slap on some 13x7's as a daily :D

speaking of flares does anyone have any standard clubby flares they wanna get rid of, i need 2 sets... cheers

Seems you've decided on 12's which is good, I went for 12's on WEECAR with cooper flares. Here's some info I found on fitting 13's though ... just in case anyone is interested.

Hey there REALXSBASS,

I am currently going through exactly the same decision making about my LS1275. An email I sent to Northern Mini Parts about rim types also asked about 13 inch rims and were they a problem fitting.

Their resposne was "As long as the ride height is correct you can fit 13" rims without any problem". :? I really do like the idea of 13 inch rims though but I don't like the idea of having to do mini surgery on my mini though.

Maybe I will go wilth a wider 12 inch rim.

Cheers,
Rob.

Birty,

The man was right - and wrong!!

13x5's OK, 13x6's OK (i believe), 13x7's not OK (due to the large offset)

Here is a thread on how to modify the guards for the 13x7 wheels (page 7)
