Just looking into getting my windows tinted on my clubman.
Who here has got it done? I would think a fair few.

Legally he told me that the best option would be to go 35% front - 29% rear. The rears being darker.

He quoted me 350 (cheaper if i promote for him ie. recommend on here)
Is this a fair price?
It includes life warranty on ALL the things like fading, bubbling, blah.

i got my prado quoted at $470
at Solace, with the middle range one

the top price had a bit of colour in it i didnt like it
the bottom price was just too light

man I reckon that is pricey!! Most I have ever paid for tint was $250 on a dunnydore. Least I paid was $160, mates rates also on a dunnydore.

Backyard or reputable business?
This dude is in business in Enfield.
I think he will stay around long enough so i can exercise my lifetime warranty should i need it - which a backyard person may not offer.

I had the excel quoted at $250, by tint professor.

I just wanted the back window done again, but they are only interested in doing the
whole car.

$350 is OK, but don't let them pick up and drop off your car.

i was quoted $300 for lifetime tint, (metalic) and $200 for 10 yr tinr (semi metalic ) these tints are garanteed against bubbling, fading etc.

My son has just got a quote of $199 to strip the old stuff and redo all the windows in his Toyota Surf. But then he is in Rockhampton and Qld is 20 years behind the rest of the country

Do it yourself. The secret is plenty of soapy water and a felt squeegee. I used to apply vinyls for a living and s*^y myself the first time - reminded me what it was like as a virgin!. Get some cheap stuff and have a practice first if you want. Buy the tinting vinyl and in a CLEAN place, cut overlarge pattern, remove backing paper and apply plenty of soapy water - the lid off a rum bottle would be a good measure - use 2. The electrostatic charge will attract dust if the area is not clean and this will give 'bubbles'. The soap neutralises the glue. Float the vinyl onto the glass and squeegee the water out working from the middle. If you leave a little 'overhang', this can be trimmed off when the tint is in place (but use a sharp knife). It will take a couple of days to completely dry out and you should give a couple more squeegees after a couple of hours. It's not that difficult and you'll feel very proud of your work at the end.

I must admit I'll be getting Marcia tinted up specialy the rear nice and dark.
I tried once to do it my self and just stuffed it..But I must admit I was young and silly...Now I'm old on even sillier so Ill proble give it another go
