I think you'll find most Group N racers have at least 1 spare S-motor stashed away in the shed. Eligibility regulations dom't allow the use of the 1100S block (no removable side covers) - or didn't the last time I looked.

I cant find the tappet covers on either of my 1275 blocks in cars or on the spare block.

I would have thought that 1100s blocks were rarer ???? At least in volume produced.

According to Parnell's book only 5000 Mk1s and 2400 Mk2s were sold here.
Many more 1100S cars (and 1300 auto) were sold than this. Ask M1100.

There were spare engines sold too, I bought an 1100S one in 1968.
I've found the Cooper S blocks much rarer than 1100S etc ones lately.

there are a few about Doogie  not many of the 7000 or so have been trashed as far as I can see, many of them would have sleeves in them by now...

I have just overhauled the original engine for my car, thin flange S block, s/n 42536.

I've also just got and overhauled a 22G333 3 synchro gearbox from Tasmania, not many of them out there!
