Guys Ya gotto join the revolution. I'm a fairly tall guy but truth be known I'm afraid of my own shadow and probably couldnt fight my way out of a wet paper bag but I feel so strongly about the poor driving ability and crap attitude of today's young male drivers I have on a few occassions lately decided to do what the police are to understaffed and under resourced (and dont give a shite) to do.

It all started when my kids were old enough to start playing out the front of our house with only limited supervision (we live right up the back of a housing estate with very few cars about) and I started to worry about their safety.

The first time my family were down at the local park when I couple of kids in a Suzuki GTi came screaming down the suburban street doing maybe 100kmh in a 50 zone. The guy was obviously a natural behind the wheel, his green P plate proved it. They went screaming straight through the roundabout out the front of the park and up the hill. 2 minutes later they were back agian and again. After three passes I had had enough and I just happened to have a sledge hammer in the back of my car. So the next time I heard them comming I grabbed the sledgy and as they slowed for the roudabout I steped out from behing my car and signaled them to stop (smilling so it looked like I thought what they were doing was cool) they pulled right up next to me. Thats when I swung the sledgy above my head and said "If I ever see you come down this street again I with throw this through your widscreen and hopefully it will kill you and you boyfriend", I think the guy wet his pants and drove off very slow, I never saw them again.

Two times since then I have confrunted P platers at either a set of trafic lights (once) or simply by stepping onto the road in front of them (once) and told them that if I ever saw them speeding down a suburban street like that again I would drag them out of their car and beat the crap out of them.

Sure it's a bit dangerous but it makes me feel good and I may actually save a life, maybe ever theirs.

My wife has even started doing it. It works better comming from a girl when she says to someone "Are you completely Stupid?" Comming from a girls that really hurts the ego of a youg guy. So does, "I should ring your mum and tell here what you are doing to her car".

HAave a go, it makes you feel good.

Threatening them with a sledgehammer is likely to land you in court!

I can appreciate the sentiments. But I reckon most of us did similar things in cars when we were kids. I know I did!

EDIT: I mean racing around the streets, not smashing WRX's through houses!

Yeah so will ringing up someones house and threatening to kill them and their kids. But tell me why when it hapened to us and the police put a trace on the line and caught the guy red handed, we are still waiting for them to take any action against him AT ALL two months later. I know who he is just dont know where he has moved to, the police do, but I bet I can still catch up with him first. It's not their fault but Police these days are simply toothless tigers. They are good guys and girls and I'm sure most of them want to do the job to the best of their ability but our judicial system is a joke.

my sentiments to ya, OZ. I'm not gonna sledge the coppers this time. Dunno why not, but it cant be a fun job.

Redline in third gear would be about 80 in a WRX. 80 MILES an hour. I'm pretty sure those things have ABS, but the only braking marks I can even see are just on the grass after he collected the gutter.

If it was 80 k's an hour, my car can do that easily in 3rd gear(only on the highway of course).

i'm thinking that post was that guys way to "ease the squeeze" from law enforcement / insurance companies.

similar to getting out of a car crash and saying "my neck, my neck" or "did you see that cat run out in front of me?"

i also noticed that one of his friends ran over to see if he was alright. making me think that he was showing off to an audience.

it's as suspect as most of the buy-it-now-pre-approved-bidders-only-auctions on ebay right now.

At this speed braking on grass (even with ABS) would produce plow marks not streaks. Those marks that are there are just from a car going over them at great speed I reckon.
