G'Day all - here's to a happy Christmas and great 2007 to all of ya.

When I pull up at traffic lights or intersections or whatever, I have to give the accellerator a little tap to make the revs die down.

I suppose the butterfly is sticking, or maybe a new return spring is needed. Any thoughts???

Cheers

Yeah I would check the return spring(s). I'd also give it a good clean out with some carby cleaner. Should be able to get in there (at the butterfly) without taking the carby off by just taking the dashpot and piston out.

Worn spindle shaft can cause that.

What is your throttle cable like?

Spray a little WD40 around both sides of the spindle. It's probably just sticking.

Another possibility is a frayed accelerator cable.

Cheers,

I had the carby rebuilt about 3 years or so back. The two holes that the butterfly shaft runs in were worn oval (sucking air) so they drilled out the holes and put in an oversized shaft. Maybe it needs a little lube there, but I'll also check the cable while I'm at it.

Thanks for the responses - Merry Christmas all
