Hi everybody...

I am in need of a source for 6 of the little clips/condom things that hold the boot badges on.

Failing that, what is a secure method of putting the badges on. I have sourced some NOS "Morris Mini Deluxe" boot badges to stop people pointing out it 'might be an S' (people who SHOULD know better too)

Any ideas? How have you attached the badges, any pics?

Cheers
Matt

Another idea (other than the little plastic proper bits) Is to use a small dia tube and cut it to an approximate length - I don't know how much the proper little mouse clips cost but 1ft worth of this clear small diametre pipe only set me back 20cents. Although its a bit fiddly get put it on on some of the little proturuding bits, a bit of patience and pliers is all that's needed.

I have used this method on my badges (I was feeling lazy, it was a sunday and I thought I want it done). Over the last couple of months they havn't moved at all, they feel really secure (due to the tight fitting pipe).

Will post pics soon.

These are the pics. Should of said before sorry, the little plastic thingy's will be much faster and easier to do. Mine haven't leaked water into the boot or anything. The size of the tube is around 4.65mm (0.1835") OD and 3mm (0.1185") ID.

^^Close up of what I've done - I have stretched a bit of the same tube over it so that it is a really tight fit. (Sorry the auto focus doesn't work that well up that close)

^^Here is two of them side by side.

^^This is a pic of the tube I used.

Cheers 1018cc, That may be what I need to do if I can't get the originals.

I have also been told that repco etc may still have these clips, but I need a pic of them or a part number or both. (I have no idea what they look like!)

Thanks

matt

Go to this previous thread http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=24376&highlight=mouse and read DrMini's post, it has the pic there.

Mike, many thanks for the offer, I'll try the 'proper' way of attachment first.

Anyone have any ideas on how to drill holes in the bootlid? I have to mark them out first, and i saw a thread on this a few weeks back (where they should go) What I need to know is HOW do I minimise damage to the bootlid when I drill the holes?

Matt

Try mini king motor wreckers in SA (08) 8262 4663. I picked up 10 badge clips from there recently.

I personally would just lay down some masking tape over where your going to drill the hole(s) (fair bit, not one strip) so when the metal filings come out of the hole while your drilling it doesn't scratch up your paint work - although I have never drilled holes in a good piece of metal before.........so I could be wrong.

Go to your local auto 1 etc and buy a packet of small speed nuts. $1-50 and you will get atleast six of them. Thats what hold mine on. It is what they are made to do.
