I am thinking all red, or red with black edging, or black with red edging....

I like red because it's different. I have had black in the past (not in Mini's though) and I find it shows every piece of crud that your shoes bring into the car.... :(

Grey with red edging is a cool idea. Might look into that one......

Let me know anton, I might go halves with you on 2 sets. Maybe they'll give us a discount if we buy 2 instead of 1?

I heard that the best type is the pre-moulded carpet? Red sounds good :)

Let me know what you find as I have no time to look around for myself  :)

No worries Chong.

I saw a 'how-to' on making your own once. A guy used brown paper to make the patterns, then cut out all the pieces and then had them edged. Looked great. I was thinking about doing that........ :?

i remember getting quoted about 200 bucks to get moulded carpet for my van.

about 100 for the front carpet - moulded and it goes from the firewall to behind the front seats

and another 100 for a roll of non moulded carpet (same colour) for me to cut to size for the rear cargo area.

the guy sells it in loop or pile, and also i think half loop/half pile. and he's got underlay for you to cut to size as well.

he's got a whole range of colours....RED, black, brown, grey + some more

The guys name is Dilip - his shop is a few doors down from where Ivan and Gareth are in caslte hill. I've got their card, i'll get it later and put up the details for ya!

Sounds good!! ...and close to home as well

Is it automotive carpet he sells, or just carpet.... :?

I wonder how much it costs to get the edging done if I cut it myself?

I bought some moulded stuff from a place here in Melbourne (for those intereste, in Knox). I would never do it again. I couldn't do a very good job of installing it. Very hard to get under the door areas.

I had my carpets made by my trimmer the next time and he did an excellent job. I would certainly only ever have carpet done again at a trimmers. This way you can have any colour you like with any colour trimming.

I was talking about recarpeting my mini to a guy at work who told me he knows a guy that will mould and install it for $150 as he got his mini done but that is in Melbourne.
I ask him if anyone is interested.

Mutlitple peice carpet sets i think are the only way to go. There glued in place where they need to be and the rest can be removed easily to clean. I have both my minis with this style of carpeting. It is essentially what a trimmer would do, but you can buy it and install it yourself.

Cheers
Aaron

I've got the moulded ones and they didn't fit bad after some work, but checking the floors for rust etc is a PITA as it's glued down.
I tear it up every year or 2, have a squiz under, then glue it back down.

BTW I won't use any type of carpet underlay now. It just holds water... the rubber stuff is worst.
