Has anyone here ever seen, or driven, or owned a mini with a steering wheel which is more like a new car angle (almost straight up and down) rather than a go kart style wheel???

Since my minis dont have rear seats, i sit further past the b-pillar, so i am considering modifying the steering column in this way....

I understand that it takes universal joints to do this conversion, but i am not sure whether the finished product will be worth the effort....

what can i say??? i just like to be different.....

I know wot ya mean mate, like a london bus wheel ya mean.

Well I got one on me moke. Dunno if it was meant to be upright, or if its broke but it still goes round roos and anthills the same.

Hope this helps ya mate.

Just undo the rack mount bolts, fit a drop bracket to the steering column, tighten rack bolts. Easy peasy.
Doing my car today `coz I've got the new Cobra seat in, it's low and mounted baaaack..

<edit> BTW, the column is at a steep angle for safety. If you have a head-on (as 2 in my family have now) the column will bend forwards and upward, instead of spearing you like most older cars will. 8)

Very interesting point Kev, thanks for pointing that out. I know a lot of people who 'drop' their steering column, for looks and comfort, but I never thought about the safety issues.

Watch out for that Pommie Sheila, she sounds like she could have you for breakfast... Just jokes....
