Yes Sydney and in the VL chaser under the meccano set. Happy New Year to you as well.

Lindsay Jones Panel Beating has the local (Gulgong) NRMA agency and Bennetts Servo have the Mudgee NRMA agency. Both have tilt tray trucks and roadside repair vans.

Busy intersection - hmm - Gulgong at the peak of the gold rush and when there was 65,000 people and 80 pubs in Gulgong, the interection of Mayne Street and Herbert Street had the highest audited traffic in Australia over a 24 hour period.

BTW - I compared a variety show at the Opera House yesterday afternoon. Show went for four hours.

But yes it was the Prince of Wales Opera House in Gulgong - notthe pretty one in Sydney.

Just back to the original drama , go buy another identical battery from Kmart , and keep the receipt , then take the original one back on that receipt and say it won't hold the charge and you had to buy an NRMA battery on the side of the road to get home so you'd like your money back rather than a replacement . You're doing nothing wrong that way and in effect will have only exchanged the original battery .

In the good old days of my 1st 850, the battery cells (6 on a 12V one) all had the connectors across the top of the battery- mechanically it was better design.
Now, they are connected through the sides of the cells. These connections are nowhere near as robust, that's one reason you get early battery `dead cell' failure- all it takes is one bad connection and battery's toast.

Location: hoxton park, sydney a place where our council bins are so small you couldn't bath a baby in them!!
you could goto jaycar and get a lead acid battery zapper/reluvenator...thingo...
they are really good and manage even batteries that have been sitting for years on end without anything done to them
it started with a bunch of farmers in the states who discovered that if their cactus batteries got a few good shocks they would hold a charge as if they were new however this tends to make them a little more delicate with discharge to some degree
but usaully you can get away with zapping twice before they are truely dead...

Wrecking yards that sell used batteries with a limited warranty usally just empty the battery and fill it up with fresh electrolyte. Then they charge it. If it charges then good. If it doesn't it is binned.

If the battery fails within 30 days they replace it but usually they are good for six to twelve months.

I used to do that a lot, I would wander into a wreckers, find the newest car smashed that I could find grab the battery and palm over 20 bucks. I used to get two years or more generally out of a battery this way.

If you have a battery sitting for a long time ie only used now and then it will still develop sulphation. This will help if you are serious about recovering sulphated batteries.

hi there,i work for century batteries and whats happened to your battery is that it has sulphated.due to low use.what you have to do to fix it is you need to put it on charge with about 20 amps for two hours followed by a slow charge for a couple of days.most home battery chargers dont even put out half an amp.so you will have to take it to an auto electrician.tell him to charge it at 20 amps for two hours, then take it home and connect your charger to it and let it charge for two or three days.make sure you keep the water level up during the process, you will find this will fix the battery.cheers

I did a similar thing to a motorcycle battery recently that had died at just over 12mths old. Took it out to Battery world at Nth richmond and left it there overnight. He put it on a heavy duty charger he has, and we managed to reclaim it. I also bought a new battery for one of my cars, so from memory he didn't charge me for the bike recharge - but even so, it wouldn't be much if he did.

And yes, I speak to mike more on here than in person, although I did see him at xmas! :D
