Bought a new smiths temp gauge from mini speed bout a month ago. When it arrived i plugged it in to find that the gauge was reading incorrectly. Emailed minispedd and spoke to The Miniman (Matt Read) and both said that the gauge requires a sender for that specific gauge.
Went to local outlet who stocks smiths and ordered the specific unit for the gauge. When it arrived it turns out that the new unit is smaller in diameter and has a different thread (finer thread) compared to the existing sender unit.

What can i do????? Is there a flange nut that i can buy that will thicken the shaft out to the correct size????? If so where can i get one???? Any Ideas people :? :? :? :? :?

I will get photo's of both senders tomorrow hopefully...

Thread is a bastard 5/8-16 UNS. A 5/8-18 UNF will screw in. This thread is used on oxy hose connector nipples, see BOC.. :)
Adaptors are available, but.. who's got 'em?
If all else fails, have somebody turn you one up from brass hex bar.
Or, drill the guts out of an old Smiths sender and tap it to suit yours.

had the same problem with my mini a couple of years ago.
i got a adaptor from AUTO 1 spares .
take a original sender that fits the mini and the new sender unit with you
so they can see the threads and they'll give you an adapter to fit
