It's looking absolutely awesome. i love what you did with the fuel fillers too.

Just a question... i thought when de seaming the car u should do it from the inside?? i read it somewhere but never actually tried/seen it done....

cheers
dave

Hi Dave,

Yes, you start on the inside, welding inch by inch. And when that is finished you grind off the seam on the outside inch by inch, and then weld inch by inch. I am sure you get the picture!!

Thanks for the kind words by the way.

Cheers,
Tricky

Sounds like a good idea to me with the deaseaming.. But there are alot of places that you cant weld inside the car. A pilars are one.... I sure hope the welds are good. Ive sean it done a few times and all of them the bog had cracked from flexing in the body or shity welds.... Lead wipeing would be best for this I think... Or file it smooth... Damn that would suck..

Keep up the good work

Hi Mike,

Yes, it does suck - and its a job I dont think I would ever tackle again. The welds need to be good, very good. But as long as there is plenty of weld there, everything should stay put.

I am not sure which is the more tedious, the welding and grinding or the bogging and sanding!!!

Cheers,
Tricky

Hi SS,

Thanks for the kind words - much appreciated!

Gordo,

No clearance issues whatsoever. Believe it or not, there is a ton of room down that transmission tunnel.

It helps when you have a guy doing your exhaust who is really switched on though....

Cheers,
Tricky

Tricky i got a quote for the my exhaust yesterday...
Im going to have a new exhaust manifold made up through to the turbo, ceramic coated. Then a ceramic coated dump pipe through to the flex joint, then the rest of the way through in stainless, going to have a similar finish as your with the dual canons but i think ill get them to exit on an angle. Prob have a cat in there somewhere also

Hell Gordo that sounds real nice!!

Would love to see some pics when its finished.

A couple of Q's if I may:
Who is doing the ceramic coating now that HPC have gone the way of the dodo?

What style of custom EM design will you be doing?

Cheers,
Tricky

The manifold will be a similar design to the old one but not so crap.. It currently hits/rests on one of the bolts for the thermo fan. And not sure who will be doing the ceramic coating (the exhaust guy will get it done). And the ceramic coating dosnt just have to be black, im going to get it like a chrome finish

This is the old manifold

That's a nice bit-o-kit Gordo!

What turbo are you running?

Are you going 3" same as mine, and did the pictures help?

Cheers,
Tricky

Gordo,

Why don't you just modify the existing exhaust manifold, you can easily cut through the welds and turn the elbows a bit and re-weld to get better clearence where required. You maybe wasting money by redoing the entire manifold.

I still think there is so merit in the log approach and i will be interested to see how it performs. If you look at your manifold you get the initial run of pipe extracting the gases but eventually it returns to a smaller line that will no doubt restrict the exit of the gases to the turbo.

This will open up a debate very quickly i would think but an equal length manifold is only good for a high performance race car, at our level it will not make any difference.

Dan
