Fairly sure I read in the RTA guidelines that rose joints were illegal unless engineered...and then probably only on those quaint little clubman cars with cycle guards :P

To all...if you make changes to your suspension...make sure it is recorded on your insurance policy.

They just turn it back to you. Shannons listed mine as `modified', said anything is OK as long as legal under RTA. :?

We all just have to understand that insurance is not for the benefit of the insuree, it is simply for the benefit of the insurer. occasionally they have to do a pay out and thats is simply cost of sales - no more - no less.

Any way they can reduce that cost of sales then so much the better.

My car has been engineered with Hi Los, 60s style adjustable suspension and the wider offset Mamba 6" wheels. So I'm pretty sure there is no problem.
John.

I can almost bet that a 'daggy' looking Mini with adjustable stuff would be rejected for rego :P

My mini was pink slipped today.
The mechanic said the handbrake was not holding and a high beam was gone on one of the H4s.

The headlight bulb is no big deal, he didn't have any and I just have to buy one. As for the rear brake adjustment. I said to him do you want to do it and he looked at me blankly and said that this was the first mini he has ever touched. He is a 30 odd year old mechanic in a small country town and has never worked on a mini.

He said he could learn how to adjust the brakes but he would much prefer i just went away and did it.

NOW !!!!! - If the majority of mechanics today have never worked on a mini and looked under one and saw well engineered and manufactured adjustable arms and rods - even on a tatty mini - why would they reject it !!!! Only those with fairly good mini knowledge would even recognise that they were not standard.

Much easier to simply ping a mini on something else.

He IS going to think it weird when all these minis suddenly start appearing wanting Pink and Blue slips though.......I thought I just rid of the last bloody mini in gulgong he thinks to himself.

Hey just as a stir - next time the MCCNSW rock into Gulgong, can you all line up outside his garage and ask for a new clutch for each one :D

People aren't stupid these days...

A mini isn't vastly different from other vehicles.

haha - lets not rock the boat- i have the pink slip and I am yet to buy the head light bulb or adjust the brakes. The beauty of a small town is that he knows me and one day he will say "how did the handbrake come up after you adjusted the brakes". I had better be able to look him in the eyes and say "yeah good". Anything else is a betrayal of trust.

Its not a pink slip paradise - just a more trusting enviroment.

People have never been stupid - in this time and age doesn't have a claim on being uniquely smart.

I actually believe that for every new thing we learn as a generation we trade that off with a skill we discard that is lost forever. How many here could live a week in the bush and come out no worse than they went in.

I am not claiming I have bush survival skills - I dont - but I do have computer skills. My bush bred grandfather (born 1901) never learnt about computers but could live off the land.

I don't know about rose joints but Regency (for SA people only) that adjsutabe suspension is quite fine and legal. as long as the car isn't too low and doesn't ahve rediculous camber but ther is no ADR or strict rules of any of this, my car failed because of silly little things. Exhaust noise, height (or lack of it 8) , car wouldn't go over a coke can!) and rear camber of about 2 degrees was completely fine with them. They said to me in person - As long as it's qulaity made by a reputable company and no they didn't ask for recipes etc for my hi-los, they said that if I make them I need engineering BUT if a company makes them it's quite fine. That is mainly directed at willy who earlier said hilos are not legal. Legal is depending on who is the inspector. willy do you have any hard proof of what is legal or what isn't?

Anyone have any links to any websites that will give us all true info?
