Gday all, Im Gary Im just about finished a 2.5 yr rebuild on a 1974Mini Clubman Panelvan for my long time girlfriend (Rose). She has been a Mini addict way before I knew her and always talked about how cool it would to own one. Her dad had this mini that he bought from a deceased estate which had been painted in a base coat of white house paint and a top coat in blue house paint with no interior or any good chrome work. He had intentions for restoring it but ....you know the rest. Being the good boyfriend I am (lol) I told Rose id give it paint job and put together an interior, with a sound system, for her. One thing lead to another and the build snowballed out of control.... still have plans to turbo the engine or turbo engine transplant, hence the front cutout under the number plate for the cooler. Ill post a couple of pics in the members cars sections and update once a few more mods are done.

Hi ash and welcome.
I find this a bit hard to believe, All Bosch electrics? No Lucas at all? 8)
No matter how hard you try there will always be a little bit of Joe Lucas in a Mini.

Hi my name is Indy,

I just got a 1973 mini clubman. It hasn't been driven for a couple of months and i cant seem to get it started. I have so far put in new points and new sparkplugs. I really want to get it going as i haven't driven it yet! If any one has any tips or tricks on how to get it started that would be great.

cheers, Proud new mini owner.

:D welcome :!: Suggest you buy a can of "startyerbastard" and check that fuel is geting to the carby. If you have fuel getting into the cylinders (check to see if spark plugs are wet after cranking) and a decent spark, it should start. let us know how you go.

Disconnect the fuel rubber hose that goes to the carburettor float bowl and poke it into a small Coke bottle....cranke her over a few times to see if you have fuel being pumped from the tank.

Ifnyado, go back and check whether your nice new points are still nice and shiney....if not, clean em up, pull the plugs and clean em up, maybe put some startyabasterd down the carby throat and kick her in the guts

hey everyone! I'm Bren. I'm mini obsessed... quite literally... I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that my car port, house, shed and work are all littered with mini's and/or parts of mini's :)

My current daily driver is a 77 clubman with a roundie front (coz I prefer the roundie front but I like my central locking) but have many other projects waiting to be completed :)

my hot 1300 died recently :( so I'm running with a STOCK A+ 998 at the mo and the loss of power is killing me... but I've always wanted to do a small bore screamer  so that's next on my to do list... should be excellent... 120 thou over 998 (that's about 1096cc), 290 deg cam, full race spec head (gotta pocket the block for the exhaust valve) and all the other usual suspects on a high performance motor :) will put the smile back on my face when I'm driving I'm sure

anyways...

HI! and happy mini-ing :D

Hi Normston , welcome to ausmini , apart from whats advertised here your best bet would be to join the Queensland Mini Owners Club (someone else here will be able to help you out with details) and see what other club members have and also get some advice on running and enjoying the mini's . They can be a little daunting for a first timer some times ....

Hi , I,m Dave ..I have been looking for a Mini website for ages , and now I've found a good one . I have a 78 Mini Sedan . I bought it about 3 years ago . It had full rego at the time , however , daughters weddings take time and a lot of money , and hence , the Mini has sat in the garage since . It's time to dust off the cobwebs and get her roadworthy again . I am a realist and so I know that I have a time consuming job ahead of me . I look forward to posting and hopefully gaining knowledge .
Dave

Ayup! Just found your site through a site I've used for a while now (www.minifinity.com) and thought I'd join!

I'm from a place called Newcastle-Under-Lyme in England and I've just finished rebuilding a 1977 Clubman and I've got a 1990 Cooper RSP in bits waiting to be sorted out!

Passed my driving test a fortnight ago and haven't stopped driving the Clubby yet, its ace!! :D

Cheers! Ad
