The hyphen is also called a 'dash' by the less educated.....

BTW does OTT stand for 'over the top' or 'On Tangent Thread'?

hey most of you guys still call post 73/74 minis "Clubmans" ,,, so those of you that do are also technically wrong

They`re Leyland Minis

so don`t winge tooo much about the Yanks (oops Americans) ,,, we`re all guilty of stuff like that, just not all guilty of building such a messy mini ute "thing",,, definately not my cup of tea, but then i don`t drink much tea :-)
he likes it & that`s all that counts

& is it a ute or a pick up or a truck or what??? i don`t really care but what was it to start with???. i reckon it`s just an extended whacked out sedan that`s been made to look Ute-ish

:-)

I wouldve said it was like buying a dual cab Kenworth with a tray instead of a coupling...... and a touch more ground clearance....

If we follow that argument, no Mk1 or Mark 11 Cooper is a Mini. Nowhere on the badging of these cars is the word "Mini" included. Just "Morris Cooper" or "Austin Cooper" :)

In Mini circles "Clubman" is generally used to refer to the square front shape, whether Leyland Mini is on the badge or not. Being a "Clubman" or a "Leyland Mini " does not nmake any difference in values (GT and LS aside). Hence there is no advantage to be gained.

Most Mini fans understand that the Cooper is a special sports model, which commands a price premium. Hence Cooper is not generally used to refer to all roundnose Minis. Only the yanks seem to (mis)use it in this way. This has the potential to cause less knowledgeable buyers to pay too much. Nobody likes people passing off fake Coopers as the real thing. :(
