OK, so I've replaced 3 alternators in 6 months

First one, washing out the engine, has gone kaputski

Second one, "mechanic" who put engine back together again has overtightened and killed the bearings

Third one, on Monday drove to the city, car was a little bit hot hovering around 100c so I got home and topped her up with water from the hose to give it a bit of a flush as well. Long story short, Alternator light came on after about 10mins of driving so I thought must have killed it as water went on the alternator.

That one was still under warranty so I got a replacement (phew!) and installed it, now alternator light wont go off, and gets brighter when in high revs. Its off a Nissan bluebird but looks exactly the same as the old one.

any ideas?? Checked that its charging and it shows about 17v at the alternator but only slightly higher (around 12.6v) at the battery.
