I am going to have to get new shocks for the moke, both front and rear and am just wondering what people would recommend, don,t want the real fancy ones as its only a moke but has anyone tried the Gabriel or the other cheaper ones

ive read all good things about kyb gas-a-adjusts and gaz in terms of being good quality for money - that is when you dont want to fork out for fully adjustable on a road vehicle.

I had a set of GMAX on my clubman before I 'upgraded' to GAZ fully adjustables... I'm still trying to get them set right and it's been a few months... I really enjoyed the extra handling given by the GMAX over the standard shock and hopefully one day I'll get the right settings for my GAZ

I used the standard clubbie shocks from karcraft. Worked well.

They are not a problem as long as you dont go off road as they have less travel on the rears than a standard moke shock - about 13mm less. They were much cheaper than gabriel etc

Jon - try the Lipp brand - OEM specs bit a wee bit firmer and cheap at $140 a pair - did the back and front and they are just starting to get a bit soft - but 120k on them on the original springs it is money well spent.

But...

KYB would be good as would Gaz as well...lol

Pedders were one of the only ones to list front and rear for mini, the others only list fronts so I might give them a try and the lipps and see what turns up

I saw a set of springs in MiniWorld that supposedly slot straight into the cone spot on a Mini... Bit expensive tho if i remember rightly...

i have seen them little blue ones or red ones if i remember right

Being a foundation member of the flat earth society (not really) I don't quite see the point.
They are hardly a spring, IMO, with just 1 free coil... and thus unlike original rubber springs, they are hardly a rising rate.
And, shocks available are valved for use with rubber cones, not springs.
There was a lot of discussion of these springs on MiniMania last year.
KC had a set for trial, last I heard he was not wholly convinced they were an improvement.

For road use, I'd be more inclined to import some of Alex Moulton's `smootha ride' rubber cones.
For track use, you can get competition rubber cones.
