G'day Folks,
Just a final update on my importing a Riley Elf from NZ....
Unfortunately ran out of time before Christmas for Rego checks.... and couldn't book in until the New Year.
Going down to rego was the first time out on the road ... and she had a bit of a miss and was very sluggish... stopped at a set of lights and had a strange smell and smoke wafting up behind me

.... instantly worried about frying wiring in the boot... but on inspection all was OK. Then finally twigged - had been a bit over zealous adjusting the brakes ready for the brake tester..and must have been dragging!
A good run down Adelaide Ave and that blew out the cobwebs and she was now running very sweetly.
The Rego guys were very good.... and quite happily accepted a photocopy of the vehicle specs from the handbook for weights etc. The Identity check was waved - "you didn't steal it did you?" ( I think there had been enough paperwork in getting it exported/imported to prove this! )
Unfortunately the Hydro was down a bit on one side and the left rear brake cylinder clip was loose - and thus they had to fail her. Peter from the Mini club again helped out and we evacuated re-did the hydro and replaced the brake clip (the old one broke when we tried to adjust it - so a good pick up by Rego)
Again took her down to rego - and took them about 30 seconds to pass the repairs. Though the young guy was curious how we'd adjusted the height... I left with the older guy explaining minis and hydrolastic suspension...
So after getting Club paperwork done is now under Historic Rego plates !!
On working out how to put on the number plates (motorcycle sized) have found some rust behind the rear rego plate holder

- but will clean that up and treat to stop any further issues.
Looking forward to the next club run !
Ken
