Hey Poeee, one question for ya.

Was that bracket off the LS?? Coz they are as rare as ROCKING HORSE DOO-DOO. The 1275 Mini's had a different bracket on the bulkhead to the rest of the clubbies.

That's why I had so many bloody drama's with my engine steady. Ended up getting an adjustable Metro Turbo steady, then cut another inch or so off it, and rethreaded it. Finally got the damn thing in though.

I presume it's a standard 1275 LS thing?

I dunno why its different (higher torque load carrying ability??). But when I got the thermostat bracket for my 1275 the steady rod was over an inch too long to work between the thermostat bracket, and the bulkhead bracket.

I've been told most times the standard steady rod is just cut and welded, but that seemed dodgy as crap to me.

I think you will find the firewall end of the steady is the same as any Clubby. The engine end is different to allow the pollution thermostat housing on a 1275. 1275LS was the only Aussie 1275 with the indignity of an air pump!

Hmmm... what about the late 1275 Mokes, or had they run out of air pumps by then!

Speaking of which, were the late 1275 Mokes A+ blocks? I got one going into Barney, and the previous owner said it came from a Moke..

Sorry, forgot about the Mokes.

I read somewhere 1275 Mokes did have them from 1978 to 1980ish, but the 81-82's did not. Something about the authorities deciding the Moke was a commercial vehicle and hence only had to comply with the less strict commercial vehicle pollution laws??? :?

Aussie Mokes neverhad an A+ motor factory fitted. Maybe your engine came from a Portugese example?

Brett,
No idea what Moke- it was rebuilt by Mini Spares & Repairs at Riverstone, 10 years ago.
Should haul Barney off the mark pretty quick- will have around 85-90HP at crank, and diff is now a 3.647, running 10" wheels.. :P
