in my rod change gearbox gasket set, there are two o-rings that i have no idea where they go. one is slightly larger than the other by about 2mm, and they are a bit smaller than the oil feed o-ring which comes in the engine gasket set anyway.

need to know so i don't have tragic oil leaks everywhere!

cheers
michael

One is part of the release lever setup, and the other is on the oil strainer pickup pipe. And of course there is the rear rod seal, but i guess you wouldn't be calling that an o ring.

Do you have the mini spares/mini kingdom catalogue? the exploded diagrams I find invaluable for stuff like this.
Kevin.

Cool. Where on the oil pickup pipe is that o-ring meant to go? Does it affect the ability to suck up the oil? Does it get used for a central pickup pipe?

the one i got was from karcraft and had no diagrams. i am also going by memeory of when i pulled the gearbox apart, since my book only covers up to remote change gearboxes....

cheers

It doesn't get used for a central pickup. It goes on the vertical pipe between the strainer basket top and the bracket that holds the pipe in place on the original if that makes sense?

The release lever one is described as 'O ring, pivot pin to release lever" and goes between the pivot pin and the pivot pin bush.

Don't forget there is one for the main selector detent, in behind the RH diff side cover `ear'. If you do, it'll leak bad.
