Legal in UK (probably) and USA, no way you will get that registered in any state of Oz.
As Doogie said only in a straight line, and a WRX etc will still burn you.

I dunno, we got rotary engined datsun 1200 utes, fully road legal here. So I'd say it would be fine in SA. As the rules says "there is no specific amount of power and or torque you can give to any motor vehicle" well it says something like that, jsut can't be bothered to bring up the PDF file.

It would need big as front brakes though!

BTW what does an MGB weigh? We got a lot of rover V8 MGBs going around, and they require, bigger front brakes (usually) and road testing (lang change tests and brake tests.)

No matter what you put up front, traction is the killer with FWD.
Dunno about SA regs but I still doubt it's legal. It won't be when the national code (ever) starts.

MGB's come with Rover V8's from the factory, which makes getting a conversion registered a lot easier.

No they don't Poeee. Certain models did, but no open tops, only the MGBGT V8 which was a hard top, they are quite rare.

But a post 76 rubbernose has the mounts for the V8 alraedy there, still requires engineering. But all the chrom fronts with V8s, that are legal here require as much engineering as shoving a 4EFTE in a mini does.

If it's a V8 commodore you want to beat, I built a 1445 (stroker 1400) that kept them honest, but really you'll probably need a turbo.

Heres one I prepared earlier.... & yes I did catch him (WRX) and pass him, not on video though

rip out all the extra weight like back seats, numerically high diff, tune for torque not horses ie sacrifice high end for low end, port and polish the head, scatter cam (correct me if Im wrong), dont over carb it, spiral blower. With all that you might able out drag a v6 Commobomb, not not a Scoobie.

thats all I can think of

I'd had a 1427 stroker motor, it was the funnest & scariest mini motor at the same time, had more grunt than you could imagine, but could'nt put it to the ground.

Not 1445 with turbo. First I built a 1445 NA but now I've got a 'tame' 1293 turbo. The 1445 was impossible to drive on the street, the turbo is impossible to drive anywhere

Historic Racing Cooper S's can run high 14 / low 15 second quarter mile times with under 1300cc, no forced inductiom and in full trim on 10" x 5" road legal radials. That beats most Commodores.
Trouble is, full race cams and high compression engines on public roads don't mix.
Minis are now over 40 years old, you shouldn't expect them to have the same straight line performance as today's vehicles. But if you are willing to compromise drivability for performance, then do it and take your car to the track. Don't tarnish the Mini's reputation (as well as that of their owners and associations) by stooping to the hoon mentaility which is giving all car enthusiasts a bad name.
Sermon over.

i prefer to race on the touge, strightline racing is for bogans

in my opinion theres only one type of car to beat in a mini, and thats a bini, and my Bigblock is being built for this purpose..
