Make sure you have just got home from a fairly long drive, then immediately park the Mini in the garage and start changing it.

The heat from the extractors ensures your arm slides all the way down with the least of difficulty.

Pffft that proves that you are young players to the mini fixing game. See if you were like me you'd have calluses all up your forearm and you wouldn't feel a thing! 8) :lol: :wink:

My car must have been either a hire car or a Public Service vehicle as it had a box with a keyed lock (no key) over the nut where it screwed into the gear box - took me most of the time to work out it wasn't standard :oops: I was told Post Office vehicles had them fitted to stop employees disconnecting the speedo and using the vehicle for private trips. There was also one at the back of the speedo as well but mine had been removed.
