well today i had a little "break-down" .. goin along the highway was travelling at 80kph and accelerated to 100 but the car died in the ass everytime i put my foot down..

fueling probs of course:!:

so i stoped and rattle the fuel tank and couldnt hear anything.. so found a piece of rope in the sand on the side of the highway and shoved it in the tank and measured the amount left.. next to none LOL
so we had to putt 2 kms to the servo to fill up.. made it there and filled up

but while we was lookn at the fuel filter we noticed alot of sediment in the bottom of it so decided to nip across to repco to buy another one and whack it in

well we never got away coz the fuel pump wasnt filling the filter!!! oh man wat a sunday!! after sum pissing about found out that the fuel tank was only letting a trickle of fuel out.. not enuf for my thirsty 1100 to cope at 4000rpm

im glad we was out the front of repco.. very handy:) in we goes to buy a jerry can, 1m of fuel hose, some clamps and a 6mm bolt for some repairs in the carpark...

my new fuel tank :) only 5 litres but is good for 25 k's 8)
Image

new fuel tank mounted in boot with stuff packed around and had a rag sitting on top so if pulled over theres just a boot full of tools 8)
Image

and literally.. i ran clean out of fuel as i pulled in the driveway 35 kms away.. economy isnt very good :(

and that was my excitement for the week.. but now more repairs to do before licenseing :(

i'd need to fill up 4 times A DAY!! then cruising at nigt!! just easier to whack another tank in :).. but i mite keep it hooked up in line as a "reserve tank"
good idea!!!!

how could you be using so much petrol..?

Few thing i can see affecting economy...

1 - The jerry can probably didn't have 5L in it -..maybe 4-4.5

2 - The hose isn't able to suck properly once it get's low..

3 - Being a convertible fuel economy is alot worse than a sedan.

Dam that's too bad, I had a fuel problem on Sunday too!

I got Vapour lock in what seemed to be about 42'C. First time...ever. So parked in a bright yellow clubby on the side of hill, waiting for RAA. RAA guy, nice bloke, he knew his mini's, he squirted water on the pump after we let it all cool down, and I made it the remaining 10 K's home... I had plenty of fuel though.

Just make sure it cannot move too close to the battery terminals and that no vapour is escaping or else you'll loose the rest of your fuel (as well as your car) very quickly

Nice bit in ingenuity though to temporarily fix your problem
