wow, I'll lump that with the fuel polarisers, fuel catalysts, turbo zets and spinning hubcaps. I love the OMG "before" picture, it looks like the engine has been stored on it's head in a wreckers yard without a tappet cover.

I'm told (though I've never had the desire to do it) that you can always throw a cup of diesel in and run for 5 minutes or so before you change the oil. Makes sense I suppose....

All garage work involves equal measures of enthusiasm, ingenuity and a fair degree of irresponsibility.

Another way is you can drain the oil... fill with diesel (same amount you would in oil) and run it for a few mins only at idle.

I always put an engine flush through before I drain the oil (just one of the $10 bottles you can get from just about any auto shop)... don't know if it actually helps or not??? but the bottle says it does

I wouldn't use the ceramic additive in a mini... mainly because at the bottom it says "300ml’s will treat up to
5 litres of motor oil and remain effective up to 50,000 klms, not for use in synchro gear boxes or limited slip differentials."

I use and recommend Snake Oil.

i have seen some engines that bad, but what we do is strip them down and clean them, cause all the oil gallerys will be cloged up, but sometimes that stuff does work just depends on how long you leave your car without servicing it. i think the one car that was that bad had gone nearly 25 000 to 30 000km without a service

Nice to see the company smear engine lube all over the tappet gear to give it the vision of being dirty - by the looks of it, it is a BMW withthe old K-tronic fuel injection system.

I dump a 500ml cup in my Subaru every oil change to flush it - forget doing it in a mini as you will blow smoke until......forever...lol. Good way to make a smokey motor even more so - and it will clear all the crud away from the gasket areas that has previoously stopped the oil leaks...lmao

Way back when I had my first Mini in the 60's I read about and followed it religously with every oil change by adding a dolop of graphite grease in the oil filler - also greased with graphite grease ( in the days before moly based grease. Couldn't tell you if it did any good but I don't think it did any harm as I never had any problems with the engine in the 6 years I had the car (apart from a timing cover oil seal but that was within the first 3 months)

This is common method to get a few more miles out of toweled oil pumps, try to resist doing it if you don't have to.

the only way that i have felt good about was putting in a bottle of crap kmart oil and running it for a minute then draining it and putting penrite in.

but thats a waste of oil

Just change your oil more often, it will eventually clear all the much out.
I do the oil at 1500 miles and filter at 3000 miles.
And you don't really need $40+ oil, any good 20W/50 is fine for a road Mini.
Hey, it's a Mini (think 50's tractor technology = agricultural) not a twin cam Toyota...

Years ago when oil was cheap(er), we used to dump it every 1000 miles.

New filter and new oil at 75 percent of recommended interval.

Those engine flushes a fantastic way of wrecking your bearing and seals as they displace oil leaving your bearings dry until the oil gets in back under, on and around.
