I just won an auction for a dellorto 40DHLA. This is the auction here:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... R40QQfviZ1

I was wondering if i got a good price (i think i did, but wanted to make sure  )

All things relative I guess.
Its not a bad price but the seller is a bit loose in his description. Webers, Solexs and dellortos all have diffiering sized chokes (a venturi type device) and jets for each engine. Two basically similar engines side by side could need quite different chokes and jets.

So once you get it and you would be wise to kit it or have it kitted (new gaskets and the like) find a manifold for it and then have it choked and jetted for your motor, you will be up for a bit more money yet. A tuner with mini and Dellorto experience (and the jets and chokes) may be able to best guess it and get a very close result. However, a session on the dyno is the best way to go and usually there is very little change out of $400 to have a well tuned, smooth but performiong motor from a dyno session.

Its not a bad buy !!!

yeah, I was planning on doing a complete dyno tune after installing it as it will be going on an hot 1100 which I am working on at the moment.

I would have had to have a complete dyno tune anyway if I used an SU and probably would have had to buy an HS6 instead of my HS4 so I guess it won't be much more expensive in the end anyway.

EDIT: I will definitely be kitting it too :)

I think that's quite a reasonable price for it, as has been stated there is more money yet but even with that taken into account I still think it's a good buy.

If it's going on a warm 1100, PM Mini Mad (Josh) and ask him what chokes and jets I put in his- I forget, but it's running sweet.
Will give you a good starting point before you dyno it.

I found some other settings in some other threads and I have the Vizard books so I should be able to work out some rough settings that will be enough to get it running. Fingers crossed it will be close enough anyway :)
