Try and have a look at Morris 1100 boot hinges, they are internal. But they would take up too much space in the boot if fitted to a Mini. Anything is possible if you put effort into it. Yes minis look neater if they had no Hinges there.

Morris 1100 hinge from the top... or are you also talking about hinging the Mini boot from the top?

Doesn't matter where it hinges from, it can still be moved to do the job!

But then you would need 1 metre to open it!

The way I'd like to do it is to have the door slide out and up,
like the doors on bus storage compartments.

to do that you would need something like the gear out of retractable roofs or something... I have seen it done but I cant think where... I know those mini truck mags like street trucking and trucking street low and low rider mags have this kinds stuf but generally you can buy kits to do it... More often then not though you need to modify it to work and fit..

Ii know this as I have done a lambo door kit on a C5 corvette.. The kit was made for a corvette butt mate it fitted like Crap.. Took many many many hours to get it to work. I will think of a way to get it to work though

Ill get back to you.

My way doesn't involve tracks, it goes up and down in one sweeping motion.
The hinge arms would just be longer, and have a hinge point at both ends.

Realistically I wouldn't do it (not on my current acr anyway) since the boot is
rarely opened anyway.

Make the rear seat removable (bolt on? Or use latch on?) then crawl in and weld the boot shut. Mount the battery elsewhere (under bonnet or in cabin (if it's a sealed type)). And yeah, lol silly idea, but an idea nonetheless.
