Hi all

If I read correctly, going by Morris1100 the code for the Mini K should be YG2S1.

This would be good as the 2 Mini K's I have both have the body code YG2S1, yes they are both '71 and flapper door handle types.

Not that I've seen a lot but all of the Mini K's I've seen have also been YG2S1, flapper handle or not.

Cheers
Steve

G'day

easiest way to define a mini K is:

YMG2S4 YAG2S4 body numbers manu - 1968-1971

-Cam

HI Guys,
Please note the above information is NOT correct.

The Body number Prefix for a Mini K is
YG2S1 Followed by the body number.
this can be found on the Radiator Shroud and on the alloy Compliance plate fitted to the main crossmember on the Drivers side. early Mini K's didn't have this plate.

Please Guys if you don;t know don;t post it.
Wrong information is of no use to anyone
and confuses everyone!!!!!

Dave

Dave , just take a deep breath and think before attacking members , I know Cam is very knowledgable with mini K's and has been collecting info on them here in another post . Personally , the mini K's I've seen have all had the car type listed as YAG2S4 , never seen a YG2S1 but that doesn't mean it's wrong , just that I haven't seen one . Is that number perhaps in late 71 before BMC changed over to Leyland (lift up handles and clubman lights?) as I haven't had a good look over one of them .

I don't think my reply was attacking anyone! But you certainly just Did!!
I was simply stating a number for the Australian mini K sedan which happens to be
correct.
The same number applys to both variations of the mini K, Both pull down door handle and Clubman door handle types.

Just to set the record straight on the YG2S4 number being suggested, this is the body Prefix for all Australian MKII Cooper S, with both types of door handles!

You may have seen YAG2S4 Listed as the Mini K Body Prefix but have you ever seen a real live car with that number stamped on it?Just because it is writen in a catalouge or on a web sight does not mean it is correct.

I have owned over 40 minis in the last 30 years specializing in MKII Cooper S and Mini K.
I have restored these Cars to Concourse condition and Won many trophys for my efforts, I have researched them ,Bought and sold them and parted them out. Believe me I have far more experience in this field than you would ever imagine.
In future I will just let you struggle on....
Dave

Welcome to ausmini dave, would you mind introducing yourself properly? We're always glad to have people with lots of experience join ausmini, but unless you tell us a bit about yourself we have trouble telling the difference between people who know what they're talking about and people who think there is such thing as a 2L rear wheel drive Cooper SSS for example. :D
