running without a clutch return spring will root your clutch, learnt that the hard way..

if the noise comes and goes with you putting the clutch in, then its mechanical..

clutch isnt so hard to fix though..

good luck :?

Wouldn't the clutch still make the noise when the car is not moving though?

I get those crappy noises from time to time. If you get your gearstick to rattle, you won't notice it any more.

Look on top of the clutch arm, if there's no spring, then you need one.

thrust bearings usually will make a grinding noise not rattles, rattles only happen on a car when they are either dangling or loose i.e a nut or bolt or spring

and by top of the clutch arm. u mean the back of the clutch box where the arm slides

That should be clarified.
By top of the clutch arm they mean:

The top of the clutch arm.

(above the cylinder).
:D

I had a thrust bearing self destruct on the clubby. It made a grinding noise when the clutch was pressed, gear changing was very hard also...

hmmmm ill have to take a look at that cause i think mines missing..

on the back of of my clutch box the arm connects to the rod at the nut that is on there seems loose so i thought a spring went on there ill try to get a photo up soon, as for rattles there are a shitload of them in my car and im slowly figuring out what they are i know that at the bottom of my gearstick something is rattling and that my accelerator cable is rattling against the bonnet and also my steering coloum rattles at high speeds

No, no spring there (not usually anyway unless you get a Gulsonpower spring), it's to stop the clutch pushing in too far. If you must adjust it, do it in accordance to the manual.
