Now you have only a few more things to collect. Imagine a Clubman GT built outwards from the speedo :D

i've got a speedo, the boot badge, the disc brakes, the engine, the gearbox, the uni joints, etc

i dont think i'll re-do the interior, and im not interested in 4.5" wide wheels but i am considering stripes.

Just a comment-- when you mention there is no difference between a S and a GT, the early S motor was vurtually bullet proof , stronger crank and rods, stronger valves also.
Different--yes they were.

Oz Clubman GT had the same rods and crank as a Mk2 S, likewise the 12G940 head and valves. Crank was EN16, tufftrided.
Most Mk1, and Mk2 S and GT rods are the same AEG521 forging.

Mk1 S and maybe the early Mk2 S had the EN40B nitrided crank, yes it was bulletproof back then- but they are getting brittle now. Not many people are game to race with these old ones.
But they make fine roady cranks... mine doesn't want to wear out.:P
As for the AEG163 Mk1 S heads, they were hardly bulletproof, many have long since cracked and been replaced by a later 12G940 one.

The mk2 and GT blocks were also thick flanged which was a better design from a racers point of view than the thin flanged mk1 blocks

Cheers

Excellent.

Thanks for the plug for TME on the home page.

I guess when you are finished the resto, you will have to do the story on the history of the model. I'll come up and do the photos if you want, but there would be no point me interviewing you about a story you would be better qualified to write anyway.

So, something to think about for the future.

Cheers,
Watto.
