Once my Woody goes to the bodyshop I'm going to get stuck into the engine. I'm going to keep it pretty much standard and just give it a general tidy up and repaint.

Basically what I'm looking to know is what colour the Aussie A-series engines were painted as they are a different shade of green than the British A-series. Any help on this would be great.

There a few threads on this, the colour used is called "Alpine Green" (do a search on these and you'll find heaps of info) made by "White Knight".

Early 850 etc motors here were a much darker shade than the Alpine Green, was same as UK motors then I think.
My `61 850's motor was an 8AM/U/H one.

Yah the dark green was the go, light green was used later on on the Cooper S engines.

I've just done some investigation into the White Knight Alpine Green - they tell me it is only available in Hammered finish, and not just as a gloss enamel. Bugga.
But the actual colour is very close to the later Cooper S colour that Mick mentions.
If you can get a sample your local auto paint shop should be able to match it up and supply it in pressure pack (if you don't have spray equipment of your own) - this is the way I'm going with it. 2 cans should do it.

I have a 22G1128 gear box used on Mini Ks and MK2 Coopers that still has the original colour. The power wash took a lot off but what is left is nice and clean and end bracket under the radiator that comes off still has a good coverage.

I'll take it down to the local paint shop Friday and get them to match it and give me the formula and post it back here.

Could be a good sticky to have if people with genuine original colour engines get them computer matched and post the formulas.

There were a few different colours used on A series engines in Australia. The 850s used the british green.
The Deluxe and Cooper S used the Australian green. (similar to the White Knight Alpine green.
The 1100s used a bronze.
I had a K with a blue motor. (stock ex-Police K)
Late motors were black.

The Imported Cooper S motors came painted the British green and were repainted with the Australian green, so you should see both greens if you look carefully. (usually on the back of the oil filter can )

As far as I am aware the traveller was not assembled new in Australia . All travellers were made in England so therefore the engine would have been painted the non metallic english mid green colour. All travellers in NZ were imported and the engines were this colour as well.
