Following up from Cass's thread here , http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=28509 , I've decided we should have an official Ausmini play-doh mini modelling comp . The prizes are some new , boxed Corgi models of classic mini's , one per class . The judging will be done by members of the International Mini Model Collectors Club forum so will be impartial and not open to bribery ....

THE RULES ....

- There are 3 classes - Round nose , Clubman and Moke , you can enter each class but only once in each class .

- You cannot take a mould from an existing mini model and cast your play-doh mini , they must be hand formed . They must also be in a medium that will last (play-doh or any other commercial type of modelling clay , I don't want the winning models rotting in my display case ...) .

- The winner of each class's play-doh mini will have to be sent to me (I'll re-imburse your postage costs) to be added to my model collection (I'm putting up the prizes so I get to keep your play-doh model :D ) .

- The judges decision is Final .

- Models are to be built and pictures posted in this thread , only one entry per class per person , if do another that you think is better than your first then you must delete the first .

- You must keep your entry intact (in an air-tight container to stop it drying out) till the end of the competition , if the winning entry cannot be sent to me it will be disqualified and all other entries in that class rejudged .

- Competition runs from now till the 31st of March , any pictures of models posted in this thread after midnight Local time in Coffs Harbour (not sure when daylight savings ends  , midnight EST or EDST , whichever is current here) on the 31st of March will not be accepted for judging .

- There is no preferred scale , so long as the completed model is more than 20mm long , ideally anywhere between 20mm and 50mm long , though if you want to do a more detailed model you can make it larger , it's up to you basically .

- Axels can be metal , plastic or wooden but wheels and body must be play-doh or equivalent .

- No painting of the play-doh is allowed , colours must be the play-doh's colour .

<EDIT> I've made this a sticky for the duration of the comp then it'll be unstickied ....

So the trick is to make it look good, but not so good that people don't question if it
has been molded? :D

You can get different coloured play-doh people, you don't need to paint it.

I can now confirm that the prizes will be one brand new , boxed and ceritifcated corgi mini model from the mini seven racers series per class (that is , one for best clubman , one for best roundnose and one for best moke), no photo's yet but they are on their way from the UK , I'll post pics of them when they arrive . Normally sell for around $25 to $30 here so well worth playing with a bit of modelling clay . You have just over a month to make the models .....

Judging will be done on another webforum I'm on , the international mini model collectors club (the forum's address is linked in my profile) so judging will be impartial .

Royalties are only applicable when something is sold and as no model has left my collection in around 18 years so I'd say you'd be waiting a LONG time ... Besides , you'd need to get BMW approval before you could sell your designs to become famous so I could sell this one and that could be more trouble than it's worth ....

Well , I now have the prizes in my hot little (OK , big hairy) hands , These are the new models that are the prizes , 1 model per class (roundie , clubman and moke) , the three classes will be drawn at random to decide which model goes to which class .

Well , this ones self explanatory ...
Image

This next one is actually cadbury purple , the camera didn't show it as such though ....
Image

This one has a purple and pink oversprayed effect to look similar to the harlequin paint effect but doesn't change colour in the light .
Image

I'll also add a poll to this thread to see how many are doing models , as you can now see , the prizes are worth it .

I selected the first choice, only because I couldn't choose both :)
