Hi all

Just a quick question, would this number mean that the car is an 850?

Also Where can i find a list with all these numbers on it for future reference?

Cheers Ryan

Hi

Yep, looks like an 850 to me.

Here is a site I sometimes use, but be careful, there are errors on here.
http://www.miniownersclub.com/enginebodynum.php

Cheers
Steve

I am sorry to say but that list would be the worst one I have ever seen. :shock: A Morris 1100S motor in a 1275LS :roll:

The main ones in Australia....

Early Roundnose
YMA2S1 = Morris 850
YKA2S1 = Morris Cooper
YMA2S2 = Morris Mini Deluxe
YMA2S3 = Morris Mini-Minor
YKG2S4 = Morris Cooper S

Late Roundnose
YG2S1 = Morris Mini 1100 (Mini K)
YG2S2 = ?
YG2S3 = ?
YG2S4 = Morris Cooper S (Mk2)
YA2S5 = Morris MiniMatic.

Early Square Nose Note, they are not badged Leyland.
YG2S6 = Mini 1100 (cheap model)
YG2S7 = Mini Clubman
YG2S8 = Clubman GT

Later Square Nose There is a lot more to this section but I won't confuse the issue yet.
021 = Leyland Mini
022 = Leyland Mini S

Last Square Nose
XNPAB18Y = Leyland Mini
XNAHB18Y = Leyland Mini S
XNFAD18Y = Leyland Mini 1275LS

Edited twice. 8)

remember the matics were 998, the code for 850-1000 is `A' not `G'. :wink:
You told me that....haha

I knew I had a red face for a reason. I made the mistake of copying that one from the Mini Kingdom book, I should have just looked at the compliance plate in the drawer next to me!
I will fix it up in the above list. :wink:

I care!
That is a Deluxe number, I don't know that answer to that one. :? Unless the first Matics were numbered as Deluxes.
Does the ID plate have the matic engine number?

There seem to be a lot of threads popping up every now and then regarding chassis / engine numbers for different cars. Should we compile a known, accurate list and put it in a sticky somewhere?

That is quite interesting. They must have classed the first matics as a Deluxe auto.
Funny thing is that at the same time the Morris 1100 was YMGS1 and the Morris 1100 Automatic was YMGS3. So at the same time that they kept the same prefix on the Mini they changed the prefix on the 1100. :?
That would explain why the Mini Kingdom book does not list a seperate number for the early matic.

Another thing I have noticed it nearly all the auto Minis and 1100s that I have seen are Snow White (on the plate) :shock:
