It's an Oz made 1098- has 3/8" UNC headbolts, not 3/8" UNF studs. So they need to be 50lb/ft not 40, to get the same stud tension- as the threads are coarser.
So it sez in one of my manuals, somewhere.. :lol:

Block was nice and flat- the head wasn't, so we had an excuse to mill it `a little'. Has had .070" off altogether now. C/R will be over 9:1 now- nice! :wink:

2 more 202's here if you need 'em. :lol:
Buy a die grinder like mine, and I will instruct you how to transform your chosen 202 into a 295, grasshopper. 8) .

And the small bore ones are more `shithouse' than the large bore, now. Hardly anything but fresh air inside them.:lol:

ACL do a good small bore gasket. We tried to buy one this afternoon at Auto One, but they are like Repco now- carry SFA apart from `bling' and oil and polish. If it don't walk out the door in 24 hours they don't carry it.
"Oh we can get it in for you" he said;
Yeah right, I want it now- 12 months ago you carried them in stock- that was called "service", remember? :evil: :x :twisted:
As they say in Toyotaspeak, "Bugger".

The problem is that since the start of January the spare parts stores have not been allowed to sell anything that contains asbestos. So a lot of stores just dumped all their gaskets and brake linings. :(

I'm aware of that, but..
The ACL one was asbestos free, a composition gasket. They are good. :wink:

Worked out what the problem was...Haynes book of lies say to do them up 40...I should have done them 50 leason learnt

Chase all threads with a tap and die and lubricate all threads when torquing head nuts or studs. It makes a big difference. I even lubricate the top surface of the washer that the nut or stud goes onto.

So how did the Mill perform?

Maybe you need to crank it up again with my 998 head..... :wink:

It went OK, but would be better with a bigger cutter, then only need 1 pass. I'll make a flycutter up while I get around to mounting the `big' cutter. :wink:

Kev, next time you are up I've got a heap of Carbide tips from my Apprenticeship....

You should be able to mount them (silver solder) on HSS tool bits and make some NICE flycutters.....

you'll need a green grinding wheel though (silicon carbide?) as they are all "used"

let me know
J

Thanks James, but I've found a whole bunch of new ones at work, various shapes, don't fit the cutters or tool holders we have now, so can probably get some..
Anyhow, I'm an old school HSS man- less hassle for jobbing work. Slower cutting, but what's the hurry? 8)
