Hi Folks, wondering if anyone out there can answer this question. I want to install a speedo thats calibrated to 1610 revs per mile. My mini has a 3.44/1 final and 10 inch wheels, any idea of what its stock speedo revs/mile would be. many thanks, Dave.

You sure it's 1610 revs/mile? That would mean at 100 mph it'd be spinning at 161,000 revs which seems awfully high :?

I'm not 100%, but I remember reading somewhere on my stock deluxe speedo a max of about 3000 revs which I assume would be 90 mph...

that would be 161,000 Revs an hour not minuite

and your figure of 3000 RPM (if that's what you mean) = 180000 RP Hour at 90miles an hour.

let me know what tire size you are running on your 10's and what gearbox you are running.

1610 seems reasonable for speedo accuracy, but I have no Idea what factory settings are. Generally the higher the RP/mile the higher the accuracy of the speedo.

Cooper S with 10" wheels and 3.44 diff had 1280 revs/mile speedo.
I'd put a drive ratio box on back of your chosen speedo, most gauge repairers can supply.

Thanks for the thoughts. I was hoping by some miracle I could put the Veglias in and be about right. Guess I'll have to get the speedo calibrated. at least the rev counter should be right. Cheers, Dave.

Thats the setup on mine. The speedo is 800 revs per km.It came out of a latter model moke with 13inch wheels.I can't remember the diff ratio but the combination seems to match up reasonably well.Speeds seem to be close. It equates to 1280 revs per mile if my math is correct.

That 800/km is close to 1280/mile, I have one going into the van.
There is another Moke one that's 860/Km, that is a good match for a 3.647 diff (Mini K) and 10" wheels, I run one in Barney and it's spot on according to the 5KM roadside markers. 8)
