Guys, give him a break, he has chosen a specialist, and has explained his reasons. The car will have its problems sorted properly and then he can just do all the maintanance work.

thanks ryan.. a tech they teach about todays cars so its simple to work on todays car for me and harder to work on a car in the 60's because i was never around then these are different, same with that was a mechanic in the 50's cant work on a car todays age cause its completely different, the basics are there but overall workmanship is completely different and things are made different like the driveshafts on the mini ive never seen any design like that on any car except the mini so far thats why im bugger on how to fix it or sort it out compared to a specialist who will have it done in a day it will take me probably a day to figure it out

Yeah, but im sure that the majority of people on this forum are not mechanics, have had no mechanical training... But just about every 1 here is comfortable to work on a car that has a very simplistic design... We all have to start somewhere, u should have a head start because ur a mechanic..

I was a 17yo with half a clue when i built my car, but the experience of building the car twice, means that no job is to difficult for me to tackle on it now.

No more excuses!

The drive shafts on a mini are the same a drive shaft on a new car. I did my PT Cruiser just last week, and the design is the same.

Are you a qualified mechanic or are you a 1st or 2nd year? That would explain your hesitancy to work on your own car, and that would be expected. If your qualified and are afraid of working on a mini, perhaps you need to look at your knowlegdge of cars again as mini's of all cars on the road are one of the simplelst designs in existence. Why do you think so many of us are able to work on them

Hey Tiny,
I dropped in to see John at The Mini King today, I brought some bits and pieces and had a chat about my plans for my clubby. I must say that John seems to be a nice bloke who is interested in minis not just the profits, anyway , what I am trying to say is just drop in and have a chat with him he's pretty close to you at 22 Graham hill rd Narrellan.
