said the actress to the bishop.....
The 45DCOE weber i bought was previously used for an off-road buggy and was consequently filthy. Needless to say i have pulled it to bits to get all the dirt out of it and fit the bits in the rebuild kit. I even pulled the spindle bearings out to degrease and get all the sand and grit carried by the grease out. All nice and clean now.
So my question is - do they need grease or some other kind of lubricant?
according to the exploded diagram in the Redline rebuild kit, there should be some kind of seal over the outside of the bearings but underneath the big washer, but my carby did not have them, hence the dirt in the bearing grease.
Anyone have seals like that over their bearings, but under the washers?
Finally the rebuild kit seems to have way more o-rings than i need, a mysterious ball bearing (not out of the needle), two leather washers, but no new spindle seals to go under the bearings

is this common seeing as Redline sell the kit for either 40 or 45DCOE?
cheers
michael
