Yes its become a bit of a dead end trade in the last few years, I started nearly 10yrs ago and HiFi VCR's cost $650 for a decent one, u could charge anything to fix em. Sux cause its such a wasted trade, Im still fixing stuff now for a company, but is mainly all warranty repairs, I do all TV's, Plasma/LCD/Rear Pro, All audio, VCR's, DVD's everything but mainly warranty, still get the odd paying job though. I had the chance to become a mechanic, shoulda done that.

I acquired myself a three gauge dashboard, but the PC on the back was completely cactus. I just rewired, and soldered the entire thing. It's not gonna stuff out in any hurry. Just a shame I dint put it in the car when I fit the stereo LOL

Hanra and danisdad, you guys should look into professional electrical engineering, ie television professional equipment. There is a market shortage and the differences between a VHS and Digital; Betacam are are not huge so it would be a huge jump. Look into it. Good example is to service a high end machine there charging up to $10k inc parts. Labour of course is up there in the cost.

Cheers

Aaron
