welcome to ausmini. good luck in finding the right mini. you know its out there.

If you want a look at a variety of minis this friday night, we are trying to get as many as possible turn up for the Mini Car Club christmas general meeting. Quite a few members of this board will be there and the variety of their cars will give you a good idea of whats out there. Check out the details of the time and venue at www.miniclub.com.au

you don't need to be a member to turn up and chat to us, hope to see you there

michael

Michael is right. I go to these meetings and they are a great place to hob knob with other mini nuts. Bring your old man, or old lady, or wife / gf / bf, if you are worried about not knowing anyone. All visitors are welcome. :D

Welcome Rohan,

I was thinking about going along this friday night. I am a member and never been to a meeting. Sounds like a good starting point.
Mind you my mini is not pretty to look at, so please don't poke too much fun...

Simon

Haha Simon, i'm sure yours won't be the worst there. Aaron is trying to get a record number, and if Rohan comes he'll see that they are not all concourse specials :D

Bugger, i cant make this friday's meeting as its the girlfriends birthday! i'd be killed!

I'll do my best to attend the next meeting next year though.

What grabbed my attention the most on the Clubman i drove was, as most of you have said - was the handling! bloody hell, that thing went round corners like it was on rails!
(unlike my current rack steering '84 BMW 318i, which while smooth, lacks almost all handling to speak of  )

i'm going to test a cooper on the weekend & compare it to the Leyland.
the leyland had good body & paint (ex show car) but the gearbox was missing any trace of a synchro and the clutch was almost gone too. plus the 1L engine being a bit lacking.... & brakes were spongey (yet apparently new)

did have a nice paintojob tho, it was gold! and the interior had black fluff lining the doors & ceiling, plus leather seats ( a bit cracked) and a CD player

if anyone wants info on it i can pass on the guys phone number as he's not advertising in anything, just a "for sale" sign in the back window.

~ i recently took a Clubman S (1L) for a test drive & was a bit dissapointed at its soggy brakes & its overall Grunt going up hills, was this a bad example? Do the coopers generaly go better with the 1275cc as i've heard they do & do the Cooper S's leave the others for dust?

I say. HAVE ANOTHER WHINGE

I drive a mini everyday, and it has soggy brakes and doesn't get up hills well too.

But the mini is still fun and i hope you do get a good one
