my angel eyes were excellent qality, i screwed the ring on the outside, and there is a mass crack throgh the middle

yes they are plastic, nad for a street car i would go h4 as i had in my clubby, were awesome, better than my vs commondore.

angel eyes are illegal, but only if the outside ring is a corrosponding colour.

but you could have the ring in a different colour for off street use.

cheers

I'm no expert, but I can't see why they'd be illegal at all.. that's basically the Mini interpretation of the parking lights on my 325i. As long as they're white, they should be fine.

They are obviously factory fitment and BMW were the ones who started off the whole 'halo' angel eye' fad - BMW have tested them and they meet all safety requirements.

So to ensure you have ADR-compliant halo lights, you should pinch them off a Bimmer...?

Just remember that if a copper sees you doing something (speeding , hooning or whatever) and wants to defect you he'll look for whatever is wrong , angel eye's will be a pretty easy target if they want to do you for something . That's more the thing to remember than how or why they don't meet the ADR laws .

It is not a matter of getting an engineer to pass them, if they don't have an ADR compliance then they are illegal (even on a car that was built before ADRs)
Why stuff around with something as important as headlights?

I agree with you entirely, and I wouldn't put them on any car let alone a mini. That said, during a cruise back one night with two other ausminers' minis the angel eyes where 100% (if I played league then it would be 110%) better than the sealed (candle stick) beams.

I've always wanted to upgrade my headlights as my sealed beam headlights i have currently arent that bright and then i saw these and fell in love with them, not only do they look cool but they are brighter too!

is it just a simple take old headlights out and pull wires off, then put new headlights in and put wires back in (running 2 more wires from parkers to halo aswell)

If possible can someone post a pic of the angel eye headlights with the main beam and halo on also?? still cant find a pic of it with main beam on also.

thanks

If you want bright headlights fit H4s and relays.
If you want to dazzle other drivers fit non-approved lights like angel eyes

We have covered so far that they are pretty dodgy quality and that they are illegal.

They do produce a 'better' light and by better i mean brighter than sealed beams, but the lens is clear at the front and doesn't have a good light diffuser at the front or rear unlike the hellas.

Hellas are 100% better than Angel Eyes.

You need to mess around with the wiring for the parker lights and also cut holes in your headlight buckets to fit the parker globes. IMO they look pretty dodgy these days and are getting long in the tooth but we're not talking about style here though are we.

You need to run a relay to get the good bright light out of either.
