My Wolseley 1300 has a Mini K (or Delux) full synchro gearbox - the guy I brought it from couldn't remember which, anyway the gear lever "sizzles" and vibrates on over-run and fair drives me mad. The nooise stops if I apply pressure to the gearshift with my hand or knee (or better yet if I get a passanger to do it). Question is........ can it be fixed? If so, how?

The bottom of the gear stick sits in a little $2 nylon cup. Thats where the noise is coming from, a worn away cup.

Betcha i am right !!!!

Replace the cup and see how you go. Its not a big job to take out the gear stick, replace the cup and put it all together again.

Like Mike says change the little nylon cup. Whack some grease around while you are there. :wink:

Deluxe = 3 syncro.
K = 4 syncro.

A new nylon cup did nothing in mine and greasing all parts lasted about 10 minutes. I'm pretty sure on mine the noise (rattle) comes from a worn bell end lever crank and/or pin. See number 27 & 28 on the parts list here.

If all else fails, try a rubber suspension bush on the end of the gear lever so that it bears on the selector toggle. I think a Morris 1000 lower control arm bush fits real neat once it is trimmed to size. :wink:
