Be careful getting your altenator chromed. I had mine done along with my water pump, pulleys, rocker cover, breathers, and some assorted nuts and bolts. You need to strip the altenator right down and get each bit done individually. Some places charge per piece for chroming. My place did it at a good price (I think $160 for the whole lot?? Cant quite remember). Anyway, back to the altenator... The two sections of housing can be quite a bitch. The lugs where the long bolts go through are very difficult to get in an polish before the chroming. They tried 3 times on mine and still couldnt get it right as they couldnt get a polisher small enough in there. It still looks good, but it aint perfect. Everything else looks tops.

I got a stock rocker cover. Is it steel? I can polish it up if thats possible. I just want it to look better than it is now, Bare metal, with scratches everywhere, Also i want to chrome/polish my alternator. Would it be better to just buy a new more powerful one for around 150 dollars?

I'm with the doc, get it chromed or painted. Chroming will be about the same price or cheaper than a professional paint job, (and a home one will be noticed!)

Got mine chromed, with a mild steel inlet manifold, $100 for the two!

Much cheaper than getting an alloy one and looks MUCH nicer!

Cheers
Matt
