To give you an idea as to prices.........
This job was done in Glasurit 2K and not stripped to bare metal (which it probably should have been but the owner didnt want to open that can of worms). Probably had roughly 40 hours of repairs done to get it straight and some rust cut out and correct boot lid badge holes fitted and old ones welded up. 2K putty and topcoat.
Ideally the car should have been bare metalled but this would have tripled the cost as it had plenty of old paint and previous repairs and the owner only wanted it "tidied up"
This was around $3500-4000 this job and was only taken on because the customer had been coming to the shop for 30 years and the boss liked him as a person. The car was in the shop for a month...........A $3500 smash repair will be in the shop for 3-4 days and the tradesman typically only have to do their repairs....not fix 30 years of previous and usually substandard repairs as well. This is why most smash repairers dont need to do this kind of work no matter how glamorous we all think it is.
There's plenty of shops around who will take your cash and give you back a car......Either have deep pockets for the more well known resto shops or be happy with a lesser quality job done on the cheap by a smaller bloke working in a garden shed.
Or probably the best option is to give it a go yourself.......there's plenty of guys here who will offer their opinions and be able to help ya out.
