So from what I gather like any car you own its down to the way its driven and what mood they are in on that particular day.

Lucky for me im an angel on the road :)

I love the fact that people over take me to slow down and have a look at the car :)

Not being a smart ass or anything I was defected in a Holden Rodeo for:

Sitting to low (I was about 90mm off the ground, cause the air bags werent at full pressure)
Fuel tank in a crash zone (its up against the tail gate)
Modified suspension (even thought it was fully enginered)

I seriously think the highway patrol who defected me wasnt happy about the engineers report, He classed it as "an experts opinion"

But what I couldnt understand was and this is where I mean im not being a smart ass is they he wrote the car up as a Toyota Hilux, When its a Holden Rodeo... This wasnt the first time either, the previous owner said he had the same thing happen to him.

i have a roll cage, numbers, 3 spot lights and one on the boot, police dont pull me over they just smile and i've even had one ask me if i wanted to "drag" him at the lights because he wanted to see how it goes. i replied "you know they are better on corners"
sounds like you got a cop that doesnt get much *ahem*, its a shame

Long long time ago in a state far far away I had a brand new HQ Holden and the genuine factory supplied trailer plug which was a 7 pin flat plug on a strap that was wired into the harness on the right side of the boot. When you towed anything the strap came out the boot and you closed the lid on it. I got pulled over cause the lights on the hired trailer were flickering.

The cop went through me like a packet of salts and called me a bloody idiot for have the wire setup the way it was. When I told him it was GMH factory issue he called me a "Bloody Liar" and gave me a ticket for $150  (for the lights) which in the 70's was a lot of money. He then said unless I got the lights fixed I had to leave the trailer and come back in the morning - as if - I had a hired concrete mixer on there among other things and we were in the middle of the country south of Bendigo.

I dug out a torch and some gaffer tape and bound it to the leg of the mixer - he then says it has to be red not white - so so happens the kids had some red cellophene in the car so I strapped that over the lens. -He then says its too high so I undo it and move it down - he then says it's too far to the side - needs to be in the middle so after a bit of reaarraging of the load I get it in the middle - I said HAPPY? and he say the batteries better not go flat and got on his bike and roared off.

Location: hoxton park, sydney a place where our council bins are so small you couldn't bath a baby in them!!
back in my pizza delivering days on saturday nights we had 4 drivers on
me a bloke named "pauly" and two others

anyway it ended up being a dud night (as in not as many deliveries as we liked)
so we took the last 4 at the same time and as we left the estate the shop was in we all got pulled over at a breath testing unit just up the road

one got an instant defect notice for bold tyres ... ok

another defect was handed out for a loud exhaust .. which after a little arguement the copper thought it was too low instead ... defect issued

pauly's car was a different story got a defect notice for the sound system that wasn't turned on it had unengineered recaros installed and a chrome steeringwheel
they didn't take much notice of the 17" rims tacho on the dashboard!!!!

my car was interesting completely standard toyota camry 2000 model
they saw that it had 14' rims on it (standard steel ones) and we're insistant that it should have 15's on it, with the sticker ready i pulled out the manual (it still smelled new)
and showed them that my model camry come with both i got told to "f-off" and they put the sticker away

this was camden police btw

we got back to the car park measured the exhaust which we found to the 15cm off the ground

the defect issued for the bold tyres turns out the tyres we're actaully bold infact they wern't far off the indicator

as for the chrome steering wheel and the recaros it was a simple case of swap those back with the original shows the coppers and then swap back again!

we went back and confronted the police ended up getting the local area big boss to show up and had the two defects retracted with an appology

this is why i have no respect for the police and the way they do things.....

I have been defected for bald tyres but never for bold tyres. They must be good if they are bold. :D

Yeah - I saw that and hesitated on both the grammar, spelling and context.
I hesitated because at being 59 years of age I know the police are serious about saving young lives regardless of the methods they use to do the same.

Its not that long back that I spent three hours in my Rural Fire Service uniform with a hose in my hand peering into a car that had three teenaged bodies in it after a high speed incident that went wrong. Nothing could be moved until the accident squad arrived and analysed the accident.

If Camden or any other police force saved just one young life then every thing else was worth it. Guess you have to be going on sixty to appreciate just what that means.

Nope, I'm 35 and been defected, fined, and sworn at by the cops as a young lad, but I know where you are coming from Mike and agree with your sentiments. The Police in their execution aren't always right, but their purpose is. 8)

thats a terrible thing to witness.... but very moving ...

me being a teenager on p plates just dont realise how dangerous and life effecting ( for my family and others) driving a car can be, let alone being stupid and driving...

i respect how hard the boys in blue crack down on p plate drivers and i just think why they do that.....

i have never been defected, fined or anything only ever pulled up once...

Thanks Tait

Yes i am all for young people being able to experience the same good things that I have done in my life.

Kissing it all good bye against a tree, in an instant, before you even get to first base is not what I regard as being someones purpose in life.

Currently there is not a requirement for young people to sacrifice their lives in Australia's interests. That means stay alive !!!
