The rear exhaust hanger from the rear subframe.

Is it hardmounted to the subframe or is connected using one of the rubbery flexible connectors?

Except if you are looking at Rover Minis.
They have two rubber hangers at the tailpipe, and the exhaust system moves around.

Cooper S have two cotton reel mounts and a triangular (sort of) plate mounte to these. This then clamps to the pipe.

(Not specific to this, but I thought I'd throw it in...)

righty O then.

My kids, 12 and 10 are the reason my project is being done. Every step of the way I am showing and teaching them that you can fix things themselves and that you dont need to vote with your credit card. So if it takes me another ten years, thats fine with me because I will have something far more valuable than a 1971 Moke, I will have spent thousands of hours with my kids.

So while I appreciate the jest in which you meant your comment, I think you may be missing the point.

^^^^ Your kids are lucky to have you and not an X-box on the credit card and piss off type of dad.

The usual set up on Mokes is the square hanger at the front of the rear sub frame. It has two screws to the frame on the diagonal. At the rear is a single cotton reel. Most mokes have a straight exhaust as opposed to the diagonal through the rear sub frame. Certainly the late Californians do because the low-mounted rear bumper brackets are in the way of the diagonal style exhausts. That's why my RC40 sits down the middle of the sub frame but the outlet points off to one side, looking a bit dumb.

I have a 4yo daughter and a 1yo son and they are just great little helpers. My daughter keeps coming out and saying can we go for a drive in it yet, then looks to see if the engine is in. She says "no engine" and goes back inside.
