Hi,
in My hunt for a mini, i have notice that my shy side often comes out on the phone...
I live in "out back" queensland, working as a jackaroo, so i dont talk to to many people i dont know ... and i like it that way, im not a hermit... yet.

so instead of me feeling akward on the phone and skrewing up, i thought prehaps i should write a list of the kind of questions you would ask someone if you were considering buying a mini off them. but i reckoned you fine people would know more about it than me. so please if you can help poor little intraverted  me, i would be most gratefull,
thanks

Off the top off my head - take your pick with what you want to know:

How many owners
How regularly is it driven
How many km's
Any rust?
How much rego is left?
Engine + Bosy Numbers if rare model
Condition of Tires
Engine Size
What work has been done, have thery replaced anything?
Have they had any problems with it?
What Brakes?

You'll want to look for rust in the usual areas, drive it and check that all the syncros work - especially second, check that it pulls up in a straight line, listen for knocks and clonks that shouldn't be there, play in the steering etc..

I think Josh pretty much covered it.. sometimes the body number helps as well as the bosy number

Another thing when driving it, do a full lock turn left and right.. plenty of the minis I checked when buying one had worn cvs..

Finding all the problems with it doesn't mean you shouldn't buy it.. just gives you some extra things to bargain them down with..

I see your Location: Brunswick, Melbourne...not so outback QLD??

Anyway....I suggest you either join a Mini club or hook up with some Mini savvy people who don't wear white shoes....get them to help you pick out a car and then get them to help you sort out how to keep it reliable :D
