:D

It should be good. I can change and check the oil, and there's plenty more for me to learn. Now that Dad and I will be working in the same place we'll have days of for fishing and working on the mini.

whatever you do though, get a japanese mini with aircon.. they're about the same price! and a lot better condition, quieter, smoother and more reliable.

I've been looking at the website. I'd like a nice wooden dash.

If you want to get picky, they are 1988 models built in the UK, therefore they are Austins (became Rover in 1989)

I think a healthy 1100 or 1275 would handle the F3 run no problems. If you are driving it in peak hour you wouldnt get about 80km/h anyway.

My only issues would be any drum braked car in the frequent fog, rain and crap drivers on that road (including me. I will wave as I go past at 5.00am tomorrow)

As for maintenance. If you intend to learn and do yourself just get what you are confortable in working on in 12 months time.

The comments on power reserve obviously were made by people that have never driven up the Mooney Mooney hill in the rain and fog of winter- power will just give you problems on that road. You want enough to keep up with traffic and a decent set of rosary beads.

Valid and very good point. The weekend of the PITS cruise coming back along the F3 is all that rain was bad enough with a 1275 and 8.4 discs and decent rubber. Better to be safe then sorry.

GOT ONE!!!!

Well, kinda. Nice easter suprise really.

My brother Troy has brought a mini to share with me while he is up in sydney, other than that its mine to drive around.

With the mini....... Bought in S.A..... also came Matt. He's staying for a few days. YAY. His brother is here too. They drove it over from Adelaide.

Matt and Troy have been keeping it a secret from me since early Febuary. And Matt had to hide it at Little Matt's house when I came to visit in early March.

It's red. with a white roof, and a big engine. Thats all I know so far. But I just thought I'd let you know.

Happy Easter!
