The Rover will be great BUT you MUST rust protect it! Some are painted very poorly.

MOD EDIT - RULE #4

I'd love to get a rust-free '88 with no motor so I can transplant the good bits out of Camilla into it. The 94 Rover I imported couldn't be registered and it had some scary hidden rust. Must have been a sea-side car in Japland. I wouldn't risk the purchase on the current advertised terms.

I hope your car turns up in top shape and you enjoy putting all the late model good bits in it. They really were very nice in the late '90s.

All the transfer of parts is done for me.

And the rust....I would hope that for the amount that is being spent it would have VERY minimal rust. It will get anti-rust treatment once its hit my garage.

I reckon Rover any day... even a crappy one is normally better than a
done up old skool one.
I have had Minis for many years now and the ride/reliability/finish on
them exceeds oz ones... probably helps that they are a lot younger.
Since importing rover's we have slowed down the sales of old ones.

another bonus of the efi system, although the tune-ability is rather soft,

you can go for an after market system and you already have most of the little fiddly bits, like sensors and what not..
