There are 2 cables sticking out of my heater, on the left side, they dont go anywhere, as all connections have been..connected already. So i need to know where they go ? Its a Regular 1974 Clubman.

Ok, do you mean electrical cables or mechanical (bowden) cables?

Okay know about those !!!

Firstly - What are you calling the heater ???? It should be a big black plastic affair under the dash with hoses coming out of it which come and go from the the engine. Are the cables sticking out of that unconnected ????

Then secondly on the dash - where the switches are located there should be a set of slides to shift air up to the screen or down to the floor. There should also be a slide that allows you to switch from cold air to hot air. Are the cables sticking out from this ???????

Basically - the hot water controller on the heater is rubbish and freezes solid with corrosion over the years. Trying to move it ends up breaking bits and cables. The heater core also corrodes and leaks. Most of us simply take the heater out, take off the hot water tap and plump it directly to the engine. We then put a cooper type control tap on the cylider head.

If your going to do that then have the heater core pressure tested first. its not a lot of fun if it suddenly bursts and sprays hot water all over the cabin and also, incidently, drains the coolant system.

The cables are coming out of the left side of the heater, Where theres like a roundy bit. They are coming out of the middle of that. Will the heater blow up even if I dont use it?

No - it wont blow up - the pressure build up is not that strong.

The pressure cause the core to burst if its badly corroded but it will not cause it to blow up - buy yourself some time to think. Simply run the hose from the heater outlet over to the inlet point on the bottom radiator hose.

Then pull the heater out and have a good look at it - there is no rocket science involved to get it out or assess it.

You do need a heater for frosty mornings and rainy nights.

One goes to ground on the chassis. the other goes to your heater switch. It turns on the electrical fan. The water doesn't make the fan go around ya know....
