I had a 45DCOE on my daily & I loved it :D

Fuel use (and smell) is OK, but you have to like the induction sound otherwise it's just too much noise.

Agreed, as a daily, webers are noisy, it might be right for some, but the noise would drive me bokers as a daily. I am thinking you would be the same Anton, but give it a go, if you don't like it, take em off and still a HIF44 on it or something similar.
Oh yeah don't forget the hydrulic handbrake

Cheers
Aaron

An SU is a constant depression carb, it is nowhere near wide open right through the carb, except at top RPM. The piston doesn't reach full lift until then.
A sidedraft Weber or Dellorto has 2 barrels/chokes/throttle bodies, no pistons to damp the sound, and the breathing in each barrel is uneven in timescale.
ie the firing order on a Mini is 1-3-4-2 and it has 2 intake ports.
Displacing these numbers 1/2 a revolution for clarity, it fires 3-4-2-1. That is to say, #3 sucks then #4 on the same port, the #2 then #1 in the other port. With big chokes in the carb, it sounds a bit like 2 Harleys..... 8)

Can be a bit of a pig when cold.

Accelerator pumps ROCK... You will be driving the car harder to hear the noises

Will-i-am was 100% correct. Love giving it a BLAT just to hear that noise

I am SOLD.... Love Webers!

Get Speedy to do handbrake stops out the front of the house and then drive a series of complete and incomplete Mokes ,with children and adults screaming in fear on board, flat out past them as they try and have a conversation with the other uqually annoyed neighbors

Naw - spend three and a half hours driving to Mudgee for the next NSWMCC weekend away trip to Mudgee and you wont want the constant induction noise along with the constant resonant exhaust noise.

It means no radio (or stereo what ever), no conversation and it simply becomes draining regardless of how stimulating it is in a quick blat or the inevitable traffic light GP.

Anton - you will grow past that one very quickly and ultimately there is bugger all difference in performance. You are not going spend 3.5 hours at 6000 rpm where there may be a performance difference against an SU.

Is it love or lust? I drove a very quick 1100 today (not mine! :D ) with a dellorto, and it was hot, but I couldn't live with it as daily. Long term it may wear on you.

And BIAM, that wasn't a handbrake stop, only using the pedal (the rears lock automagically).
