Didn't realise the replies when I posted about the rust.

To Mini Mad, when you say recently registered, how recent do you mean?
The rego expires in Aug 2007 according to the ad and seller said he has the car for about 2 years. I'm assuming because you're also in Sydney, you probably have seen or know about this car more.

About what I want, if I were to be very very specific...it's a Mini exactly like this (http://www.miniworld.co.uk/gallery/v/photogallery/LSMOC+Goodwood/IMG_1522.jpg.html).
Exactly creamy white colour. Hehehe... :D.
That's why my first post was about Adam's Mini up on ebay...but that one is too expensive.

Looking at max 10k budget, I want a reliable Mini, good for daily driver. I'm not mechanically savvy, but I want to learn. So I guess in the beginning, I'll be paying someone to do it. And my reasoning with Rovers is that, being a later model, problems are fewer?

Cheers,

Daniel

lower kms + less age = less problems
that looks to be about 5 to 6k, its pretty basic, little bit untidy, flares look god awful, but spend a bit and it could be looking pretty good.

The rovers are prone to any problems an older aussie one would be, and they come from the same source, p[oor maintenance and modifications.

If I were you, I'd buy an aussie car for 6-7k, and slap some big wheels and arches on it
at a cost of another 2k. The rest will cover the first years rego and insurance.

Buying a car in the 6-7k price area means you'll usually get discs, a 1275 or hot 1100
and decent bodywork. A good place to start.

:D

You're reasoning is correct, provided the car has been looked after. They are prone to the same problems as the aussie minis, however as they are at a minimum 10 years younger they aren't showing their age as much.

I have a 1978 moke and a 1988 mini, the 10 years age difference is clear every time I drive them. 8)

Can you really compare a moke and a rover like that though?

i personally would choose a crap rover over a good Oz car any day.
The bodies are generally better.
Crap brakes still work better
Doors open and shut
runs unleaded.
seats recline and are more comfy
guages and switches work
most have a radio
suspension is generally better
need i go on..

Oh, and Dannzhu, you're going to have troubles finding a car like that...mk1 grille with internal door hinges and those arches and sideskirts....it'd be an absolute fluke to find that all on one car in THIS country.

Hmmm...just realised that from the front grille. But I suppose it can also be done to any Mini rite? I mean, it's just a grille, flares and deep-dish wheels to me...
What I really like is the colour, flares and the wheels...

To Brickworx,
do you have any Rover with that colour in your stock?

What sort of price are we talking about here?
How's the condition? Because to be honest, the ones I saw on your ebay store don't look too good.

Some of the ones left there are cheaper ones.
good for people who want a rover and do some work themselves.

What about the white one with blue interior... good basis to start with
