well im having alot of trouble with my motor, i'm getting lots of oil in cylinder 4 and i dont think its firing. its getitng awesome spark so thats not the problem. we've just put a reco'd head on.

i was talking to a dude yesterday and he thinks the problem might be that a valve is either not seating properly or not closing and sealing. which would explain;
a)oil in the cylinder
b)the sound my car makes (think lawnmower...)
c) the resultant lack in power from losing a cylinder

im going to do a compression test, i'll report back when i've got the figures

Check tappet clearances then
Do a dry comp test...
then a wet test(pour a little oil in the bore)

Dylon...do the Bushies compression test...get some on to turn over the engine by the Ign with your thumb over the Spark plug hole...rather that waitingfor a tool...check each one seperatly of course.

If they kick back similar...its not the head gasket...then check what the Rockers/valves are doing by rolling it in 4th gear could be a rocker also or clearance

What about the oil in the cylinder he spoke of?

That might be a gasket leak or a ring?
